True Vehicle Review (“TVR”, “we”) is a free site where vehicle owners share ratings, problems and fixes. This page explains what we collect and what we do with it. Reading TVR never requires an account.
What we collect
- Account details: your email address, your password (stored only as a secure hash by our sign-in provider, never readable by us) and the username you choose.
- What you post: ratings, reviews, problems, fixes, replies, links, engine names, added models and photos. These are public and show your username.
- Your settings: whether you want reply emails.
- Technical logs: our hosting and database providers keep short-lived request logs (such as IP address, browser type and time) to run the service and stop abuse.
We don't use advertising trackers or analytics cookies, and we don't build profiles of visitors.
How we use it
- To create and secure your account, and to send sign-in emails (confirm your email, reset your password).
- To show your posts with your username.
- To send reply emails, only if you turn them on.
- To prevent spam and abuse, and to remove content that breaks the Terms of Use.
What's public and what's private
Your username and everything you post are public and may appear in search engines. Your email address is private: it's never shown on the site, never sold, and never shared with advertisers. Red flags you put on posts are private too: a post shows how many red flags it has, never who gave them.
Who we share it with
We use a few service providers to run TVR. They process data only on our behalf:
- Supabase: accounts, database and photo storage.
- Vercel: website hosting.
- Our email provider: sends sign-in and reply emails.
We may disclose information if the law requires it or to protect people from harm. Advertisers on TVR receive no personal information; clicking an ad takes you to their site, where their own privacy policy applies.
Cookies and storage
When you log in, your browser stores a sign-in token so you stay logged in. Logging out removes it. We don't set tracking cookies.
Keeping and deleting your data
We keep your account until you ask us to delete it. You can delete your own posts at any time. To delete your account, email contact@truevehiclereview.com from the address on your account. We'll remove your account and email address; you can choose whether your posts are deleted or kept without your username.
Your choices
- Turn reply emails on or off any time in your account.
- Ask for a copy of your data, a correction, or deletion by emailing us.
Children
TVR is for adults. Don't create an account if you are under 18.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date above. Significant changes will be noted on the site.
